19th Century Welsh Slums

Old work from 2012. The environment and props were built for use with an ipad game prototype. The aim of the project was to develop an interactive "Virtual-Tour" of Industrial-era Merthyr Tydfil that could be used for educational and commercial purposes.

According to reports on the town published in 1841, roughly 1,500 people, including families of up to 4 or 5, lived in stone huts, some as small as 1.m by 2.1m, often built on iron slag heaps. Living standards are said to have been extremely cramped.

The player would be able to explore the Iron works during peak production and interact with the workers as they warn about the dangerous Iron-production process they endured every day.
